Our seven founding partners recognised that Europe will be where the rules that govern AI will be written. And that in Europe an approach to AI that respects human dignity, democracy and the planet can emerge.
We’re proud that 20 foundations from Europe and beyond have now partnered with us to support and connect over 60 diverse organisations across 27 countries to shape AI in the public interest.
Who is in the European AI & Society Fund?
We work with a diverse group of foundations, from small European family foundations to global tech justice institutions.
By working together, we make sure their investments are strategic, well-coordinated and have greater collective impact to build the future we want to see.
We are hosted by the Network of European Foundations, a leading association dedicated to philanthropic collaboration, which provides legal, financial and administrative infrastructure for our work.

What we do
Strategy 2026-2030
Through our grantmaking and fieldbuilding, we are building a skilled, coordinated and independently funded community of tech and social justice experts and advocates across Europe.
We support three approaches to making change: shaping the AI debate, setting the policy agenda and securing accountability.
We secure sustained and independent funding for the public interest community to flourish and scale.
Under the guidance of our expert team, we provide a platform for diverse funders to strategically coordinate their investment – maximising the impact of their resources, reducing the risk to any single funder and increasing the resilience of the funding landscape.
To challenge the vast resources and entrenched power of the tech giants, we provide bold strategic leadership to networks across philanthropy and civil society.
We share insights, foster alliances and address knowledge gaps to help our networks work effectively together.
Meet our team
Catherine Miller
Co-Director
Wuppertal, Germany
Catherine has been working for the last decade to make technology work in the public interest, focusing on shaping policy and public debate. Before joining the European AI & Society Fund she was Director of Policy and then CEO of Doteveryone, the responsible technology think tank and supported civil society and philanthropy as a consultant. Prior to that she had a career as an award-winning journalist for the BBC covering news and current affairs from around the world for TV, radio and online.
Evelyne Paradis
Co-Director
Brussels, Belgium
Evelyne Paradis has spent more than twenty years working across organisational leadership, governance and social justice advocacy.
Her experience includes a range of roles within the human rights and equality sector, most notably 14 years as Executive Director of ILGA-Europe, the European and Central Asian LGBTI organisation. She has a long track record of working closely with movements and enabling them to drive change at structural levels.
Peggye Totozafy
Senior Partnerships Manager
Paris, France
Peggye looks after Fund’s partnerships and leads our fundraising efforts. Hailing from impact philanthropy, she specialises in pioneering approaches to boost corporate and foundation giving strategies. Previously, she served as both a fundraiser and a donors community builder at Epic Foundation, a global tech & impact-focused foundation.
Her academic background includes a Master’s degree in International Relations with a focus on Humanitarian work from Sciences Po Paris, as well as a Master’s degree in Law with a focus on Tax & Wealth Management.
Alexandra Toth
Programme Manager (Grantmaking)
Brussels, Belgium
Alexandra manages and innovates our grantmaking practices, and looks after monitoring, learning and evaluation of our work.
Previously, she worked in the field of cultural diplomacy. Prior to that she worked in the government affairs team of a tech company and in the European Parliament. She holds a Master’s degree in European Studies from Université Libre de Bruxelles. Alexandra is fascinated by digital technologies and their implications on society.
Līva Vikmane
Programme Manager (Community and Insights)
Brussels, Belgium
Līva works with our community to facilitate learning and connections, and leads Fund’s communications. She comes from the civil society sector, where she has held various roles doing policy, advocacy and campaigning.
In her previous role at HateAid as EU policy and advocacy officer, she worked on the European tech policy and regulation, with a focus on gender-based online violence and users’ rights. She holds a Master’s degree in Digital Media, Ethics and Social Change from the University of Sussex.
Caterina Sanniti
Programme and Grants Officer
Brussels, Belgium
Caterina supports the smooth running of our grantmaking operations, coordination with grantees, and the logistics behind our events.
She brings experience from both headquarters and field humanitarian settings with INTERSOS, where she worked on grants and partnerships, including due diligence and capacity-strengthening processes with national and local civil society organizations. She has also volunteered and worked with communities in African countries.
Caterina holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the University of Bologna and a Master’s degree in Human Rights and Humanitarian Action from Sciences Po Paris.
