How we are funded and governed
The European AI & Society Fund is a non-partisan, non-profit organisation and not affiliated with any public or private institution.
As a pooled fund, we distribute money awarded to us by our funding partners. Most of our funding comes from grants and voluntary contributions from charitable foundations, which fund individual programmes or projects as well as our core and organisational development. We do not receive any funding from the EU, governments or private companies.
We are hosted by the Network of European Foundations, a leading association dedicated to philanthropic collaboration, which provides legal, financial and administrative infrastructure for our work.
How we use AI responsibly
The European AI & Society Fund has a special responsibility when using AI in our work. We are working towards AI that is safe and fair for everyone.
Our approach to using AI responsibly is guided by three questions:
1. How to keep our communities’ information safe?
2. How to preserve our expertise?
3. How to be proportionate to our purpose?
In this policy, you will find out how we currently do – and don’t – use AI in our work.
