Our grantees have helped put fundamental rights and democratic freedoms at the heart of policymaking on AI. They’ve brought marginalised communities such as migrants, autistic people and sex workers into the debate. And they’re exploring how AI is intersecting in criminal justice, climate, health and more.
As well as offering financial support, we help organisations build networks, gain skills and work collaboratively to drive change.

With this grant, The Good Lobby will continue coordinating the Italian Digital Human Rights Network to shape fair, transparent, and accountable digital and AI policies. They will produce a report on Italy’s evolving AI regulatory framework, assessing its alignment with the GDPR and the EU AI Act.
The Good Lobby will also investigate opaque relationships between Big Tech and the Italian government. The Good Lobby will also actively engage trade unions and youth movements to ensure inclusive participation in shaping Italy’s equitable digital future.
This grant will support CDT Europe’s to continue advocacy for AI regulation in Europe. CDT Europe will explore how new laws, such as the Digital Fairness Act, can address gaps in existing EU legislation on AI-related harms.
In parallel, CDT Europe will continue to promote civil society participation in the AI Act’s implementation and enforcement by channelling expertise to key EU stakeholders.
With this grant, EDRi will continue working to put rights and justice at the heart of AI laws and policies. It will challenge the unchecked growth of AI and push for governance that puts people, the planet and democracy first.
Through its civil society AI coordination group, it will monitor how the AI Act is enforced in EU Member States and use complaints and strategic litigation to redress harm. It will also expand its work beyond the AI Act, raising awareness of AI's environmental impact, building a stronger critique of generative AI, and continuing to co-lead the Protect Not Surveil coalition against the use of experimental AI on minoritised communities.

Foxglove will continue challenging Big Tech's unchecked power across Europe. It will expose the environmental cost of AI and data centres, support newsrooms in challenging Google's AI Overviews for scraping content without consent, and urge competition regulators to stop Big Tech dominating generative AI.
It will also challenge governments adding AI to public services without safeguards, and back tech workers, including 900+ Amazon workers in a union-busting case and social media content moderators seeking fairer conditions.
With this grant, the European Disability Forum will run a two-year programme to advance disability-inclusive AI in Europe. It will help national disability organisations take part in putting the AI Act into practice, and update AI guidance on enforcement and complaints. It will influence future AI policies and guidelines at EU and national level so they protect accessibility and non-discrimination, and it will monitor the EU's possible ratification of the Council of Europe's AI convention. It will also carry out research on how AI affects women, racialised people and young people with disabilities, and create a youth-friendly AI literacy toolkit with young people with disabilities.
With this grant, Homo Digitalis will launch a project in Greece to expose and challenge intrusive AI systems that enable surveillance, discrimination, and rights violations.
Homo Digitalis will also create Greece’s first public registry of AI systems used by national authorities and EU agencies; publish a comprehensive research report on risks, practices, and compliance gaps; and coordinate the Greek AI Network to push for transparency, policy reform, and rights-respecting technology governance in border management and policing.
With this grant, Amnesty International built on their Algorithmic Accountability Lab’s work interrogating how AI systems in welfare disproportionately affect marginalised communities and their rights, and test accountability mechanisms. They leveraged the expertise and power of the Amnesty movement to carry out bold research, advocacy, strategic litigation, and communications.
With this grant, Artificial Intelligence Accountability Lab will develop a justice-oriented audit framework, bringing together computational methods, theories of justice, and existing regulations to deliberately focus AI audits towards meaningful accountability.
Through this grant, Lighthouse Reports used their experience at the intersection of technology, surveillance and migration to do collaborative reporting with affected communities to reveal disparate impacts of AI deployments.
