ENAR is a 150+ member, pan-European anti-racism network combining advocacy for racial equality and facilitating cooperation among civil society anti-racism actors in Europe.
With support from the European AI & Society Fund, ENAR will continue making racial justice a core part of digital rights policy. It will involve racialised communities in the debate, challenge the idea that technology alone can solve social problems, and strengthen its members' ability to turn discussions into political demands for justice, transparency and accountability.
ENAR continued working with digital experts to help its members take part in digital rights activism. It created space for anti-racism groups to push for a system that protects racialised people within strong fundamental rights, and promoted a positive message about how digital rights can advance racial justice. It also shared knowledge with key stakeholders so that racialised communities' experiences shape AI policy, and built lasting skills and tools among participants.
Using this grant, ENAR ran a project to better understand the new harms linked to AI and automated processes. It hosted three roundtables with members in Greece, Denmark and Croatia and held two membership consultations to learn how racialised groups experience these harms.
It also researched how data-driven systems affect racialised communities in Europe, which strengthened its advocacy on AI in employment and the AI Act. The project also allowed ENAR to build more strategic coalitions with partners like EDRi and PICUM.
